245/70R19.5 tire Air pressure Loaded and not loaded?

I finally got around to putting some 19.5 tires on the truck.
02 F-350 with the last of 7.3 powerstroke.

What kind of tire pressure are you guys running when loaded and empty.

Wheel
VISION TYPE 81 CAST ALUMINUM
Tire
HANKOOK 245/70R19.5 DH01

Thanks in advance,

Bob

  • Thanks again everyone, I will stay with 80 unloaded and see what happens.
  • G rated tires are rated at about 4800lbs each with 110psi. At 55psi, each tire is capable of about 2400lbs. Or 4800lbs total tire capacity on the rear of a truck that weighs about 2700lbs total when empty. Nothing wrong with more air pressure. I was looking for softer ride and flat tire tread (with chalk) when empty. Truck was a daily driver at the time.

I run my spare tire with Zero air pressure. No other way to fit on the truck with Superhitch. I have an onboard Air Zenith compressor.
  • Dadwolf2 is right, check with the manufacturer of your tires. Slight PSI changes will change how the truck handles too, with the tires on your steering axle.

    I run;

    Continental HDR
    92 PSI on Front
    110 PSI on Rears

  • Mine is always loaded, 75psi front the minimum pressure recommended and 85psi rear. Rides great and the tires seem to be wearing even so far.

Too low IMO. Check manufacturer's inflation charts. I've never seen a 19.5" tire chart that went that low.
  • You should not run less 75 PSI in tires. The tire beads can break away from the rim under lower pressure. I run 75 PSI when empty on the front and rear. When loaded, 80 PSI front and 110 PSI rear.
  • 80 psi front and 100 psi in rear loaded. Unloaded 80 psi front and rear..
  • Thanks guys, this is all new ground for me. Hope to get out a lot more with the wife not working thus it was upgrade time.

  • I had the same tires and wheels on my SRW that I had with Gs, I ran similar pressure to wcjeep except for 95-100 rear loaded.

Just fyi, my F-450 has the same tire brand/model and the DRW are 80 front 75 rear for 225/70R19.5s Fs. I haven't bothered to lower pressure for unloaded.
  • Empty, fr 60psi, rear 55psi

    Loaded, fr 80psi, rear 110psi
