30amp service to 50 amp

What you want is a 50A to 30A adapter like this........


A lot of times the 30A receptacle on the CG power pedestal is worn out and/or the 30A breaker is weak from numerous tripping and/or being turned ON/OFF.

With the adapter you can plug into the 50A receptacle.
If you exceed the 30A rating of your RV Main Panel 30A breaker it will trip...........least you won't have to go outside to reset.

If you find you are tripping your main 30A breaker than you need to manage your amp draw by not using everything on electric.
Use the WH and/or fridge on propane.

It is safe to use the adapter.

Old Biscuit is correct. The 50a to 30a will not hurt a thing and may indeed help.
Many 30a receps and breakers are worn out. Using the 50a recep may give you higher voltage which will result in lower draw by your AC. ALso better for everything.
You are still limited to the 30a your RV main has but the pedestal won't be popping.

The 30 to 50 Dog bone others have talked about will keep the park's breaker from tripping, so you won't have to run out to reset,, The 30 amp breaker inside your rig, however, is just as trippable, (But at least it is inside where you can reset it in your BVDs).

Another thought.. If you do not have an energy management system... (And it appears you do not)

Break out the air conditioner.. By "Break out" I mean disconnect the power line that feeds it from the breaker box.. Put a SINGLE Breaker box in for just the A/C.. Feed this breaker box from an INLET located in a handy place outside (I added a utility compartment to my rig) run a power cord out to the same utility box from the breaker where the A/C is currently connected.. This will end in an OUTLET that plugs onto the INLET described above.

ALL wire to be 12ga or heavier.

Move all 3 wires

now.. You have a choice.. Plug the outlet onto the inlet and the RV is just as it is now save the A/C is protected by TWO breakers now.

Pull the outlet off the inlet and feed it with a 12GA extension cord off the parks' 20 amp outlet and ... You now have more power for your Microwave or Water heater...

Or use a 50 amp "Splitter" Adapter, this has a 50 amp plug and TWO 30 amp outlets, you can then reduce one down to 15 amps to feed that 12 ga cord to the inlet.

Design is based on Power Solutions RV, which it appears is no longer in business.

I have conditioned myself to always use the 50A-30A adapter for reasons stated above. Buy one regardless because you can use it when 50A is the only thing available. It's a good thing to carry with you. I learned that the hard way.

It's still going to trip the main in the RV breaker panel and that's a good thing. Also keeps you inside in most cases and not out in the weather for resetting.
Do you have two A/C's and if so, you may be able to install what's called a dual power adapter, so that you can run the rear air separately from another pedestal circuit and this should alleviate about 13-15amps from the total load.
