I'm VERY surprised that you had a campground tell you "we don't take reservations from men traveling alone." That seems like blatant discrimination to me (I'm a woman who travels alone). I travel with dogs and don't generally go to campgrounds, but what business of theirs is it who is with you, as long as you aren't over any occupancy limits? Do campgrounds ask who is camping when you make a reservation? If asked, I guess I'd just say there were two people, and if anyone asked later, I'd just say, "My buddy cancelled at the last minute." Wow!
