In AZ state parks last winter, there were always one or two guys by themselves. I talked to a couple of them. They seemed to be sightseeing, mostly, or just enjoying the winter weather. One had a motorcycle with sidecar, and took his dog for a ride every day. If you try state parks, national parks, and similar venues, you'll fit right in. In private CG's they'll probably assume you are working and living in your RV. Although every time we are in a private CG any more, there are always permanent residents, so I'd be surprised they even question it.
I'm no psychologist, but I imagine your anxiety about what people think about you RV-ing alone is part of the overall struggles you're having. Really, there are lots of solo RVers, so try not to let that bother you.
