7" (or larger) GPS Units

I've been using my Garmin Nuvi for several years with great success but the small screen, while great in the car, presents some difficulties in the MH so I'm shopping for something larger.

Since this will be a dedicated GPS I have little to no interest in ancillary functions like phone connectivity, web browsing, playing music, cameras and the like. Of course most come with a lot of those features but they are of minimal interest.

RV specific units are interesting but not necessarily a "must have" and I wouldn't want to sacrifice quality navigation for a list of RV parks.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Dick

Great unit. Not a small feature is that you set it up for YOUR dimensions. It's kept me out of trouble where my other, toad Garmin won't recognize a potentially hazardous overpass, for instance.

If you are able to use a laptop, we LOVE Microsoft streets and trips. We like that it updates,we like that there are tons of locations...

However, it is getting more obsolete. As iphones and androids are becoming more advance, and 3g/4g keeps one online, you basically have the best GPS systems through a phone.

I do use S@T for my route planning and it's very good for that. I actually lay out our projected 5 month trip before we leave and update it as out plans change. However not at all interested in using it as a nav device. Each evening I enter the next days travel into the GPS.

Using a phone is out of the question, much too small of a screen and difficult for me to use. Just prefer a dedicated GPS unit.

Another vote for the Garmin RV760 We use it all the way down to southern Mexico, though RV Parks are not supported down here.

Note that it can be programmed with your rig's dimensions and weight and will sometimes tell you that you can't take a certain highway because of height or weight restrictions.

Its obsolete and not supported and you recommend it to some one ???

Yes its a good planning tool I still use but I sure as heck would not navigate with it as its now 6 years old
