- jplante4Explorer IIWell here's a pic of mine, one in the wiring bundle next to the steering column and the other in the engine service bay in the back. It's a J1708 type connector typical of older DPs. The newer models have an ODBII connector.
- Roman_DuckExplorerThanks to Pat and Gary, your input gave me the courage to continue with my search.
In our cord storage compartment there is a disconnect switch to shut power from the chassis to engine. There are several other electronics components in there also. Along side the disconnect switch mounted in rear wall of compartment is my data plug, as mentioned, by Gary about the size of a half dollar with a cover on it. Thanks again - PCarnathanExplorerI don't know exactly where your port is, under than "under the dash". It's usually black and round. Here's a link to the Scangauge D at Amazon. Hover over the picture to see what the male end of the port looks like and you should get an idea of what the female end looks like.

If the mechanic can't locate the diagnostics plug and doesn't even know what one looks like, it's doubtful that he'll be able to use the information it presents effectively anyway.
Thanks for the help, he knows what the plug looks like, it's just I don.t know what it looks like and I don't want to have to pay his scale to find it. I rather pay for the connection time than the hunt time :) - jplante4Explorer IIIf the mechanic can't locate the diagnostics plug and doesn't even know what one looks like, it's doubtful that he'll be able to use the information it presents effectively anyway.
- Gary_Explorer IIRoman Duck, I will try to help you out. I own a CAT, and the plug is up under the dash just about over the steering column. It might be in close to the same place on yours. It might be a gray plastic plug a little larger around than a 50 cent piece. It will probably have a screw on cover on it so it doesn't get dirt in it. If you go to RVupgrades.com and in the search box type in VMSpc6 it will show you the plug-ins for both the CAT and Cummins. CAT takes 6 and Cummins takes the nine pin. Good Luck.
- Roman_DuckExplorerTo clarify a little we have a DP with a 8.3 cummins engine Our mechanic is trying to locate the analyzer plug does anyone know what the plug looks like? and its location. Some said that sometimes it's located up under the dash
