Check the chassis battery and alternator. I had a similar episode in a car once. The alternator had died so the spark plugs were getting their power from the battery. When the battery ran down, the engine died.

Bad alternator or battery.
If the engine continues to run after immediately releasing the aux start button, the battery is bad. If it dies, then the alternator is bad and possibly the battery.

I have four-6 volt batteries and one 12 volt

I read a little over 12 volts for both sets

Does someone have a wiring diagram to wire the 4-6 volt batteries for the house and the 12 volt for the engine?

Your problem has nothing to do with the House and house batteries. Your problem is, you have LOST 12 volt power to the engine/controls from the chassis battery. The alternator at this point has nothing to do with your problem. When you engage the AUX start switch you are supplying the Chassis engine/system with 12 volts. FIND where you have lost your chassis power. Having 12 volts on the chassis battery is good but not useful here. You have 12 volts, but that power is NOT connected somewhere to the chassis system. Either the Ground/negative wire is off or your 12 volt positive cable is not connected. due to the age of rv, trace the negative cable from the battery to the frame/engine mount point. It may have rusted and broken off. Do you have ANY dash systems that function? Once you have found the chassis battery problem and engine runs from the chassis battery, then check the Alternator output. Doug

Your chassis battery may just have dirty corroded post that needs cleaning you can read 12V but not enough amps will get through a bad connection.

You may also have a fuseable link in the chassis battery wiring between the starter and battery.

+1 to all of the above. If the chassis battery is showing 12.4v or better, you have the power. The wiring/connection is the problem.

My main and aux battery disconnect goes to my battery control center under the hood. The BCC controls ignition and charging both batteries .If you search the web you you can get a wiring diagram and troubleshooting guide. My disconnect switch's and ignition relay are inside the box. When you push the aux battery sw you jumper both sets of batteys together.

After you do the simple things like cleaning the battery connections and grounds. If that does not fix the problem, I would then check your alternator output on the large red wire on the alternator. Is it putting out 14+ volts? Then check the chassis is 13+ volts getting to the chassis battery? You probably have 2 mechanical solenoids on the firewall somewhere. I would check the large posts to see it 12+ volts can be read without pushing the aux start button. If you have no power on the dash board after cleaning the connections, and your alternators is good I would suspect the one of the solenoids.
