A weep hole question???

RE: 2000 Winnebago Minnie Winnie

If I caulk all of the seams of the windows in the cabover, is there any reason not to seal the weep holes?

  • Do not seal the weep holes. What do you think will happen to all the water that runs down the window? It will pool in the track and overflow outside AND inside.

  • while camping for the last time this year. we had a windy horizontal rain that actually pushed the rain up the weep hole and into the window frame. I thought at first that the rain was dripping in from the top of the window as this was our first season with the new MH. I had to put paper towels in the track to keep it from wetting the inside.

Make sure you clean out the outer frame and weep holes. They get plugged up with all the sitting. I discovered that my bedroom window will actually overflow inside if the motorhome is parked just wrong during a rain. I had to add a bunch more holes.

While I have a Class A, I too found water streaming into the rig due to debris plugging up the weep holes. I know little or nothing about the front windows on a "C", these guys on the forums are usually right. Besides what can it hurt to leave them open?

Condensation inside the MH will still get inside. Trust us, if you caulk them, you WILL be sorry. But, if your mind is made up, go ahead. In a couple of years you can provide the personal experience to try to keep someone else from making that same mistake.
  • In my original post I indicated that I want to caulk all of the seams in the cabover windows...this being done...how will water get in...and why would the weep holes be needed?

  • The water that flows OUT the weep holes has to go somewhere. You do not want that seeping INSIDE...leave them open....Dennis
