First, check the breakers ON THE GENERATOR. Turn both off and back on.
If that doesn't do it, next question is whether you have an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) or must manually unplug shore power and plug in generator. Tom may be right and you do not have an ATS-- I don't know your rig.
