A/C issues and repairs.

Well, RV has been in the shop since the last day of August.

Wheel bearing seals replaced(leaks), serpentine and water pump belts replaced(worn), engine fan replaced(cracked), 2 thermostats replaced, sensor replaced(oil leak)on engine, A 5 foot piece of A/C hose replaced with two new servicing ports(leaks)and (age), now the A/C compressor(clutch intermittent) is bad and has to be replaced along with the receiver/dryer.

Hopefully that will do it for this season.

The maintenance never ends it seems!
  • At 14 years old it would need some of that stuff even if it had never been driven. I've repaired cars that people thought were a great deal because an old person had it sitting in a garage with very low miles. Rusted brake lines and brake parts, rotted rubber parts, rotted radiator fins, rusted portions of ring and pinion gears that were not sitting in oil, etc.

It's funny and sad when some websites will encourage someone to buy an old van or rv and hit the road. It's all fun until the trans blows in some little town and they dont have $500 in the bank. The good news on your part is that spotting things like cracked fans is very good so as to not take out the radiator or do other damage.

So....as they say, nothing lasts forever and you cant take it with you. Party on!
