For anyone else faced with this, here is a very good video that will save you a lot of mis-steps:

While the engine in question is the Cummins ISL, most all of his points apply to other diesels and certainly to the Cummins ISC.
The ISL and the ISC manifolds are entirely different, the ISL 400 turbo sets to the rear of the center of the engine and is much more accessible than the ISC 350. the turbo mount portion of the casting for the ISC hides the two center bottom mount bolts, plus the ISC turbo has a oil return line on the bottom of the turbo that attaches to the side of the crankcase right between the oil and coolant filters which you will not get to with out pulling the oil filter.
The ISL400 has a flex line that drains the turbo to the valve cover. easy to get to.
The other differences are the ISL turbo is a side feed mount, the ISC is a top feed mount. the side feed type can be bolted to the manifold after the manifold is in place, no so the top feed the two inboard two mount nuts are covered by the valve cover and turbo housing. I watched the vid. and got lead astray.
Next the two piece manifold is mounted opposite of the ISL, the ISC the smaller portion is mounted to fly wheel end of the engine and the ISL it is mounted to the front of the engine. The ISC manifold must be assembled out side of the compartment, not like he did in the vid. In his Monaco the air ducts are entirely different than my Newmar. plus he said nothing about the intercooler ducts or the exhaust brake.
