Air Conditioning Issue

I had an issue were the compressor would start and stop like the OP has. I found out the coils were dirty and not enough air could pass over the coils. I went to Home Depot and bought several cans of spray coil cleaner and that did the trick. No issue for over a year now. The front unit was the worst as it is used more.

Tat happened to one of my Carriers as well.. Will not happen to the other one as I took measures.

Worked out well though.. Camper across the way had a cracked blower cage.. It was making all sorts of noise and woried him.. We quickly tracked the problem down but late in the evening on a weekend where you going to find a replacement?

IN my basement of course.. I kept the parts I felt were salavagable when I dropped the new other make top on the rig.

On your Intellitec system, IF the compressor is defective and is drawing excess amps, the EMS system will kick out the compressor. Doug

Thanks, I'll give those a check. Bill, the fans start up well before the compressor starts and they run uninterrupted. If this works, I will try and attach a photo of the AC controls. Chuck

Sounds to me like the fan motor is not running? Might be a "mud dauber" nest preventing the fan from rotating, or maybe a failed run capacitor. Good luck with the problem!

Do you have an Energy Management System? This EMS also regulates power to the various AC units so as prevent two units from overloading the available current.
To check the output of your thermostat you will have to pull of the bottom cover on the AC unit and you will see a box that usually has all of the wires coming in to the unit. With a volt meter you can measure if the AC 120 volts is being switched off and on by the EMS, and with the meter set on the DC voltage scale, you can tell if the voltage coming from the thermostat is switching the unit off and on.

It could be getting a faulty message from your thermostat that is cycling the AC unit off and on. AC units have a built in time delay so that the compressor itself is protected from on-off operation. If you interrupt the power to either one of your AC units, the compressor will not start running until after this protective time delay. You need to check to see if the thermostat is calling for it to run continuously or if it is getting faulty info.
