Air Suspension slow leak

My 2002 Holiday Rambler diesel pusher has a slow leak in the drivers side rear. I am told that all "air bags" slowly go down. This one loses air sooner than the others. I measured it over a 3 day weekend. I measured with a tape measure from the top of the wheel well to the pavement. While the other 3 went down about a half of an inch, this one lost two inches. I am planning to have it looked at before any long trip. I don't want to end up along side the road. Do I have them replace all 4 if the one is bad?. I plan on keeping this coach for at least 5 to 10 years.

  • BE CAREFUL crawling under a non supported coach. If you have levelers, set them before you get under. Better yet...properly support the coach with stands...if you fiddle with a fitting and it comes loose, that coach will fall faster than you can crawl out from under it. I know of a guy who lost his life doing just that....Dennis
  • spray the fitting down with soapy water and look for bubbles.
  • 2 inches is kind of down, but it is holding air. I doubt you'd end up on the side of the road from it, but keep an air pump handy if you can't figure it out.
  • Before you just replace the bag, check for leaks on all fittings, valves and the plastic line going to the bag. I assume you have an RR8R chassis, so there is 8 air bags total and either one of the 2 on the drivers rear could be leaking or associated plumbing. Don't forget the ride height valve is in this scenario. If it turns out to be a bag and not a hose or fitting then only replace the one that leaks as they are not that prone failure.
