Tough position .. As a commercial driver I can suggest what I was trained many years ago, and do if possible . I generally pull commercial doubles and triple trailers . I need to swing wide but I do so at the last possible moment ( checking my left as I do) !! This creates a "button hook" S turn . My trailer/ trailers is still blocking the right side my front is in the part of the left lane I need to create the room to turn and I'm paranoid about watching my right mirror as I complete the turn. Making a turn like this helps stop some of the stupid ... But not all !
