- Another computer service call today, which ruined my time for working.
I did find a little time to start wrestling with a sheet of 1/2" x 4 8 plywood, and started reducing it to a more manageable size and started cutting pieces for my first 2 drawers.
I'll start cutting grooves tomorrow for the bottom to fit into, as well as the slide mechanism.

Seriously?!!?! Like anyone cares?
A good tape measure is like finding the perfect hammer. Correct balance, and just fits the hand perfectly.larry barnhart wrote:
I made 2 chest of drawers to hold items from the fifthwheel we sold. Easy for me to figure how to figure out the spacing. Made 3 the same and the bottom what was left because usually the drawers are larger on the bottom. The face fronts are made for the nice even space that shows.

The bottom drawer in this set is the critical one. We have a few items that are a touch over 11" high, so I want the bottom ones to have at least 12" available height to put those items in.
Instant pot, bread machine, and tall items like that.
We will have 4 different heights for the drawers, with large ones on the bottom and smaller on top.PastorCharlie wrote:

Came from Harbor Freight, and I have it for one reason only. I got it free with one of their coupons. Actually, I have a few of them - all free.
Do I like it? Not particularly. My good one disappeared when my son got married and moved out. Lol.
I prefer a tape that is marked in 1/8" and 1/16" instead of these that are 1/16" and 1/32". Too many marks to suit me.
The lock mechanism on these are the weak point. Like I said, I have a few of these, and this is the only one that hasn't broken the lock.
I'll probably buy a better one after this one breaks.- LouLawrenceExplorer II

- Since I know that the total distance I have available to the height of the drawers, and spaces, is ... 31 - 7/8"....

Now I can subtract the 1 - 7/8" from the 31- 7/8" and end up with 30" available for the 4 drawers.
If they were all going to be equal height - they would all be 7 - 1/2" high.
Mine won't be equal, but as long as those 4 add up to 30 inches - everything will fit like it should.
The spacing between the drawers can be increased or decreased, depending on your needs, and a little addition and subtraction will give the results you need for your situation.
Hope the mud's a little clearer now. - I am going to be using 4 drawers high.
In this pic, the red arrows indicate where I want 3/8" of clearance. I want that at the top and bottom of the drawers, as well as in between the drawers.
That means I have 5 spaces that are 3/8" high. That equals 1 - 7/8" of space.

But I will take jour word for it. that calculation gives me a headache, congrats on the anniversary, you do not know what you have until they are gone, so treasure her forever.
My dad told me that one plus one equaled two,
but if I was not careful it would be three.

Thanks for the post.
Let me try to clear up the mud just a touch.
