- rjf7gExplorerWe have a seasonal site and open our awning in March and close it in November. In between, we tilt it and use a single bungee hooked to one of two hooks I have installed on the deck - a "windy weather" position and a "we're leaving for the week" position. Before we started doing the bungees, we did lose an awning arm (awning flipped up on the roof) as we just tilted it for rain before we left and the awning fabric in an unexpected overnight rainstorm while we were there (the awning was fully deployed, no tilt). We're in our 7th year with this camper and 5th or 6th year with no (knock on wood) awning issues.
- GENECOPExplorer IIDefinately if leaving, usually at night. We have a wind sensor but unless I am passing through Girrard and they inspect and tell me the sensors are working I will air on the side of caution. I have been told to take a blow dryer to the sensor and it will activate the auto closing.....
- korbeExplorerWe will roll up the awning when the wind blows enough to get everything flopping around. What is flopping around? When the wind is blowing too much. You see, it's hard to determine what is TOO much wind. We will leave the awning out while we are gone and also at night if I do not feel an issue forthcoming.
