Bad gas ?

Just purchased 2016 Allegro Bay V10 gas. RV has been sitting for a long time, very low mileage.
Check engine light on, took it to a Ford dealer and they said it was a misfire on two cylinders, blamed it on bad gas which they said is not covered under warranty. They want 1000.00 to drain the tank.
If I don't they said injectors and other problems will not be covered later.
Should I just treat and run the 100 gallons out and clear light ??
Or should I go along with them. They said they tested the gas by lighting some on fire and it did not all burn.

Thanks
Jim
  • I would get a second opinion from a reputable mechanic with a good scan tool. First of all I would think a misfire from bad gas would be random, not just 2 cylinders. Second of all I have never heard of a burn test for bad gas. If the gas is very old it will smell like lacquer. They should be able to drain any bad fuel with a siphon which shouldn't cost anywhere near a $1k.
  • Stick a hose in the filler, and siphon it all out. Fill with hightest, and Lucas, and it will clean itself. Find any downtown NY street kid, they will siphon it for the gas.
  • They don't know what's really wrong and are too lazy or untalented to figure it out. The idea of setting some fuel on fire and then claiming it didn't all burn is ludicrous.
I would either burn through the fuel or take it someplace else.
