Banks Long Tube Headers and Ford V-10 Performance

For those wondering how much HP/Torque gains you can get on the 3 valve V-10 with the Banks Power Pack system that consist of long tube headers, better Y pipe, 3 1/2 inch exhaust, flow thru muffler and the Banks cold air intake than this video is for you.

Just with long tube headers alone Motor Trend got great HP/Torque gains over stock manifold.

Than add 5 Star Tuning and your V-10 will see 400+ HP and 500+ torque lbs, who needs a diesel :B
  • So I buy a 2002 Winnie 32V w/the V10, and it has the Banks System, intake, headers, trans command or whatever it's called. Now according to the SMOG Test Guys and Banks, all of that is legal in California. Is the 5Star programming legal or does it make changes that are beyond what CARB allows?

Another question, who can check on the programming and performance of the stuff from Banks. On a resent trip, I experienced the trans shifting on miniscule grades and the next day, virtually no down shifting on very slight grades.

Mileage was better going out than coming back.
  • DSDP Don... Thats sounds like my neighbor with his motorhome on the same chassis as mine, he has added thousands in entertaiment and many other things as well but not a dime in performace, still has tires from 2007 on his motorhome, he even complained that his performance was poor in the Rockies on I-70 not towing but I flew over the Rockies on I-70 towing 6500 lbs with ease.
  • "tinmac".....Good post. I've heard that long tube headers have always been good for RV's, both the Fords and the Chevrolets. Some people are into performance and some will never put a dollar in their coach. I've always thought performance and handling increases were money well spent. I know many who will spend $1500.00 on entertainment electronics, yet go down the road getting beat to death with old shocks and out of balance tires.
  • Gale Banks website shows 418 hp and 527 lbs of torque on the 3 valve V-10 motorhome with their Power Pack System.

That also does not include the 5 Star Tuning and they to say it adds HP and Torque in the lower RPM's.

The Ford V-10 really wakes up with these improvements.

So I think it is well money spent.
  • The stock HP is 362 and torque 457 ft. lbs.

Quite a bit in cost for an additional 38 HP and 43 ft. lbs. of torque.
