Batteries out while plugged in?

I'm getting the monster ready for winter. I removed the batteries, run antifreeze thru the water lines and getting ready to cover it. I wonder if its ok to plug it in every now and then to have lights and such inside?

Yes just make sure Fridge and Water heater (And furnace) are off if covered.
When I wintered in MI, it was plugged in full time (Still is but now I winter farther south) to keep batteries charged.. And of course I used ther radio room most every day.

If you disconnect one side of the batteries and keep them charged, there is NO REASON to remove them.

A fully charged wet cell battery doesn't freeze until about -60F and any cold short of that is actually good for them. It slows the aging process.
  • Totally depends on what converter you have.
You probably have either a Magtek 63XX series - in which case you need a battery or you have a Magtek 73XX series in chich case you do not need a battery.
But you may have something else altogether.
  • BY 'monster' if you mean the 1999 vintage MH IT MIGHT need battery to act as 'load'

    What converter Brand/Model?
  • No problem there. I always use the kill switch isolator on the house batteries when not using the RV, or, when hooked up to shore power. Why remove the batteries?
  • Most modern converters will operate fine without having batteries connected - likely no problem.
