Thinking of changing from our present 25 ft. 5th wheel pulled by a half-ton Chevy to a Class C(with 1 slide) towing a Chevy Sonic. Here's the problem/question. A Class C in the 23-25 ft. range would really serve us much better for the size of our driveway and our camping style that one in the 27-30 ft. range. But, we want a bed that stays a bed and that can be accessed from both sides for making the bed and getting in and out of during the night. How have you smaller C owners solved this issue or can you?

I had a friend who had a smaller C. There was a slide in the bedroom. When the slide was extended, you could walk around the bed.But when the slide was in, the foot end of the bed was either against or all but against the dresser.She had a Minnie Winnie -- she bought it new - trying to remember - it was probably a 2002 or 2003 model.I prefer our Class A - think it gives us more room inside. My friend camped here one whole summer, in between short trips with a camping group. So I would hang out with her and got to spend time in her C. As far as C's go, it really wasn't a bad layout.She did have a second slide where the sofa was. A dinette booth and kitchen.

The 23' to 25' is really going to make the walk around bed always setup impossible. . Now if you are OK with 30' look at the Triple E Regency GT. Triple E has a 24' model but it's a walk around Murphy bed.

A year ago we downsized from a Class A DP with a walk around bed to a 25' Class C with a corner bed. We too wanted a bed that would remain a bed and not have to be made up each night. We were not prepared to climb into a cab-over bed ( now that would be a picture), so the corner bed was the only choice we saw. Climbing into and out of the corner is certainly not as easy as the walk around bed, but it has not been a problem. We just decided that a small Class C is what we wanted and there would be some things we would give up. So far, no regrets.

You don't say your price range, but if I could I would look at the Thor ACE 27.1 (28' in length) 1 slide with a king bed and a queen bed above the cab. Very nice Class A with the Class C feel. We have an 03 26Q Chateau and is 27.6' and has the walk around bed and bed above the cab. No slides and limited space. Works for us camping, but won't know long range until this summer.

We have a 24 foot Class C with a permanent corner bed. It's no problem making it up because we don't make it up. We make up a 2" foam topper on top of it and it's very easy dealing with it this way.Finding a walk-around permanent bed in a Class C less than 25 feet will be tough. They may exist, but the choices will be very limited. I think there is, or was, some manufacturer that made a small Class C with a popout coming directly out of the back end and I believe this may have had a walk-around bed back there.

We have a Thor Chateau 22E on a Ford E-350 chassis which is 23'11" bumper to bumper. It's easy to maneuver and fits nicely in our driveway when we park at home overnight. It's fully equipped and has plenty of room. While we had some concerns about a corner queen bed it hasn't been an issue.

The shortest that comes to mind was a Fleetwood floorplan that put a queen crosways against the back wall. Left side and open. Model (Tioga and Jamboree) was a 26something for 27 foot length.

I don't know that it is an issue an owner can solve, if there is not enough room in a C this length for this kind of bedroom and still having living area up front. It usually takes a rear slideout, since a front slide only opens floor space in the living room.

You get closer in very short A's, which are coming back, because they can swivel front seats to use them in the living/dining layout.

LOVE the shorter rigs. Will need to figure out how to have permanent sleep arrangements without climbing over each other all night for bathroom trips.

Our rig is 23'-8" end-to-end with a main floor corner double bed. Simply stated, bed access is not ideal. But it's the best compromise for us with such a short length yet having a permanent main floor double bed, a dry bath, a truly functional kitchen with nice fridge & freezer, a real dinette, a lounge seat, and lots of inside & outside storage. If that rig length had a walk-around bed, the rest of the floorplan would have compromised far too much.

As Snowman9000 mentioned, that Winnebago Profile with a rear slideout seems the best you'll find under 25 feet.

LD does not attend shows outside southern CA, but the owners often have meets. I attended one because my wife and I thought we would like the 24' rear lounge. We were concerned about parking, turning around and CCC in our search. At the meet I got to tour all the floor plans and came to the same conclusion you just mentioned about early/late risers. That is why we opted for the slightly larger mid bath. The wife and I have no issues driving it. It is a little cumbersome in town but not that bad. The main concern being width, not length. I have surprised both my wife and myself with the spots I can get into and out of. Got to be careful in the DC / northern VA area at the shopping centers, I need a box of 4 spaces because they are so narrow. Even my MINI is almost to wide for a single space. In FL and away from cities I look for two spaces front to rear. Also I just park way out yonder.

The 24'ers we looked at had the corner beds. The Thor Chateau 28z has a bed you can walk around. Our 31L has a bedroom slide with the bed you can walk around when the slide is out. What ours has over the 28z, besides more room is that we have a full wall wardrobe.

I like the 24 LD quite well. It's the right length and closest to the length of the Unity. Like the beds way in the back. But, with beds made up for permanent bedroom (we would want to do this), there's no dinette. An early riser has no place to hang out, eat breakfast, do computer work etc. Otherwise, it would be perfect.

I have a 26.5 foot LD mid bath. Most of the time the rear is two couches facing each other. They can be pulled together to make a large (about king size) bed with no walk around, left apart to make a set of twins with an isle up the middle, or just pull one out for a very full size bed but a narrow walk way. There is a plastic sliding drape that closes the area off when it is set up as a bed room. The wife and I have really come to like the floor plan. It is very flexible. When I am camping with my brother or friends we don't have to share a bed... (I know TMI).

They offer a similar back bed arrangement on a shorter body. The new LD's are 6 inches longer than mine due to a change in the Ford E450.

I have read that some of the mattress on the beds that fold are not that great and one should make a point to lay down and check them for comfort
