Best Built Class C Motorhomes

In the industry what are considered the best built Class C Motorhomes, both new and used? Not only the actual structure of the motorhome but also the quality of engine/transmission and appliances such as a generator, etc. I would think that Mercedes and Airstream would be quality for higher price. However, are there quality built Class C's in the medium price range?

  • born free makes a good rv our 2001 was a good rv. loved the fiberglass body less chance of a roof leak.
  • I love my Born Free on the F550 chassis with three roll bars and solid construction , hope it gives me along trouble ownership. I owned a size smaller born free for 9 years with no issues. I also have owned a foretravel class A for 16 years. More repairs there but a great coach. I like my Born Free better so that is saying something.

Not Class C motorhomes in that they don't have an overhead cab bed area, but here's about the best there is in a Class B+ motorhome.

With this manufacturer you get your choice - a Mercedes based chassis or a Ford E450 based chassis. Even their smallest Class B+ - the 23'2" long Platinum 220 - is built on the heaviest E450 Ford cutaway van chassis -> for great strength, reliability, and over-the-top extra weight carrrying capacity.

The Platinum 220 line would be my choice if an overhead bed wasn't absolutely required: http://www.coachhouserv.com/line-platinum.php

That one piece Fiberglass shell and the way they put this model together impresses me. Also, a 3 year warranty. Thank you for this info. Now, if I can find one used as I cannot afford new.
  • moisheh you facts ? fed X and others have run the death out of those engines and they still prr after 300k.

Mb engines in rv, s have been some of the worst. When fl started to put them in rv chassis many had to be cnged over to cummins. Did not meet epa standards. When those mh, s come up for sale no one wants them . At the same time fl put them in class 8 trucks. Those trucks are next to worthless.

Not sure what "fl" means. Florida? Freightliner?

If you mean Freightliner, I owned a 2006 Mercedes engine RV with a Freightliner badge and it was a gem. Got 25 mpg (diesel) and it brought top dollar when I bought another Mercedes RV. Very good quality for both.

  • I am really happy with the quality of my Nexus 27V.
I downsized from a Holiday Rambler class A.
