Best Used Class A Research Reference

I am researching potential used MH Class A's I have been debating purchasing the RV Consumer Group product which provides ratings for MH's for years 2011-2015 that is downloadable and cost $48.95.

I am sure there is a wealth of knowledge on the forum that has had experience with this reference or another they could recommend.

I would really like to be able to have a guide for reference that gives me good insight and unbiased feedback and info on the various used MH that are available.

Any comments are recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

X2. There is a lot of good information there posted by the people that own the products
  • Read on the specific owner's forums. This site has many manufacturers to look through. The 'reference' guide you're talking about gets their information from the manufacturer. They don't test each one.

True up to a point. Once you get past a certain age (I think 20 years is the breakpoint), high-initial-quality is a benefit.
  • This is true, however in many ways a higher end unit will tend to show less from normal wear, corian counter tops will show less wear from regular use than laminate, the same holds true for solid wood cabinet work and full body paint.

X2. Condition is the important factor with a used RV.
A high end rig that had the snot beat out of it is a bad choice.
  • In my opinion, the condition of a used motorhome is of greater importance than its initial quality. A well-kept, lower-end motorhome will give better satisfaction than a poorly-kept but initially better one. I'd save the money on the report and put it towards a thorough unbiased inspection (if you don't feel qualified or able to check things out properly yourself).

Before purchasing our first MH, I use to think that the investment of a reference document was worthwhile. But nothing is better than real up to date and immediate input from the folks on forums like this one. And it's free. You can research and educate yourself on what you would like to see easier and cheaper than paying someone else to do it generically. Pretty much anything RV related from sales to fixes to recommendations can be found for free if you are willing to take the time to educate yourself. A reference guide is not going to be tailored to what you are looking for. You will need to figure that out on your own. It's pretty easy to find the right price, it's pretty easy to find floor plans, heck there are reviews galore of hundreds of various models on you tube. You need to decide what you want out of an RV, what you will use it for, figure out your budget, figure out a floorplan, shop for prices and find your deal. No guide will do that for you and not educating yourself will turn out very costly I promise you.
