- j-dExplorer III bought a couple of those HF lock-on air chucks and they're really nice. I'd seen tire guys pop the air hose onto a valve and step away to do something else while it inflated. Wondered how. I found they aren't "universal" though. If there's not room to operate it, I can't add air the old-fashioned way by just pushing it to the valve an holding there. In the pic, looks like it readily comes apart to to remove the lock, but not so when I actually tried it.
I have one of the HF truck-type inflators with gauge that was linked above. It works well, but if the valve stem isn't metal, took one more hand than the LORD gave me to get everything in place and then work the paddle to apply air.
So far, I've resisted the temptation to say this, but today, I give up: With TIREMAN or BORG valves, the RVer can check and add air anywhere anytime with any gauge and any chuck. AND they don't seep the pressure away, It's now so easy to check tires that I do it much more often. I've gone to Before and AFTER a trip, not just Before, and it takes only a couple minutes. Thinking I'd like to catch a puncture when there's time to get it fixed than right when we're ready to roll. But I haven't found air loss. All Year, Friends! I verified pressure New Year's Day and I think I added a little (cheap HF pancake compressor currently $40 on coupon sale). Since then, only checked air. All year so far, many trips. It took me a long while to become a convert, but custom valves are totally worth it. Anything else is compromise. - pnicholsExplorer IIburlmart,
I use one just like that with the compressor we carry in our Class C. It works "OK" - but I'm not exactly pleased with the whole thing of maintaining tire pressures of the inner dual tires ... it's always somewhat of a mini-hassle messing with them.
Always get the best you can find/afford with something like this. So much of this stuff is from Ch*na now - with marginal preciseness in it's dimensions and marginal long term reliability. I wonder of those Snap-On tool distributors offer a decent American made rugged version of these inflator heads? - burlmartExplorerI guess this is one of those things that the handyman/woman doesn't like to share
Again, I thank those who did - DaHoseExplorerThere is also a 90 degree type locking chuck.

Although I think that straight type you found would be better for dually's. Hey, buy the 90 and put a quick release on both chucks.
Jose - burlmartExplorerThx, Jose, that's very useful to me.
- DaHoseExplorerHave used similar in the past on different kinds of stems (to great success) and the price is right on that CW unit.
Jose - burlmartExplorerAnybody have this one from CW?
If that chuck clamps tight on the air valves I have, that just might be the PERFECT tool for me to see.
Has anyone used this type? - Harvey51ExplorerYes, that one looks great!

Always a pleasure to help. This used to be what Good Sammers did.
Your CH will have a built-in air guage, andas the minutes drone on, you'll see the needle rise in pressure. It should come w/ some attachments including the chuck pictured by Franko.
As I am legally blind, I need to FEEL that the chuck id snugly attached to the air valve - would use my hearing, but the portable compressor is noisey.
Anybody have something like this

I do not want to spend as much for the inflator as the whole compressor cost me.
I can use the pressure guage on the CH, as long as I have a really sweet, snug clamp of the air chuck onto the tire air valve.
I know the pros use a straight chuck w/ a built-in digital guage...
Anyone?? - Harvey51ExplorerI had a chuck like that and couldn't do the inner tires with it. Got one with the forward end straight instead of angled and no more difficulty.
I have a big $100 AC compressor from Costco, and a $70 12 VDC small one in the motorhome. Have a pressure gauge with the same straight on end and angled back end for the outside wheel.
