Bet you never did this before

We have all forgot some thing when getting ready to leave.. We have had RV's of one kind or another for 47 years. Nothing like leaving with your tire covers still on or antenna still up. We have a ribbon that we hang on the steering wheel when we set up and it hangs on the TV antenna handle when traveling, saved us many times.. When we are ready to go and we both do a walk around. Intresting what one of us will miss.

My "thing" is not as big or expensive -- the sewer cap. Not long after we bought the TT, I had to buy a new sewer cap because I forgot to put the original one back on after dumping. The replacement came with a neat rubber retainer / hanger (similar to a lot of car fuel caps).

Now, seems like every other trip, after I get home I find the sewer cap hanging from that retainer. No, the cap doesn't just come loose - I've got some sort of mind blank about putting it back on after dumping!

Never drove away with the awning out, but I did drive away with the antenna up once, I was stopped before leaving the campground. A couple times while parked in the driveway, I have left a slide out. Usually notice before going more than a house or two away.

Thanks for the replies that put a smile on my face. Good news- I did a darn good repair job myself. I bent back the awning by securing it to a tree with a rope, then replaced the ripped out screws to the body of the rv with bigger bolts. added a couple extra to shore it up. Tucked in the part of the awning that was pulled out, and voilà!

All I have to do now is caulk and it's done. Not showroom new, but considering I just saved 2000.00, I couldn't be more impressed with myself! :C

Take it from me- check, check again, then repeat! :o

We were camped out in a National Forest campground on the Western Slope of Colorado. It was heavily forested with really big trees and the road between the sights had some pretty tight turns. A guy is trying to get a way too big fiver around the campground to a site and turns too short, tearing the heck out of the right rear of his trailer. He hit a tree that must have been close to three feet in diameter. After gashing that baby about five feet, he gets out and takes a look, backs up .....and does it again.

At the same campground, another guy with a fiver is leaving and I am watching him back up his Dodge dually to hook up. His wife is directing him and screams for him to STOP!! STOP!! He keeps on coming and pays no attention to her. She screams again. He puts the goose neck of the fifth wheel hitch right into the tailgate and keeps on coming a half a foot or so more. Heck of a mess. The wife is still screaming. The driver claims "Why didn't you speak up"?? I was a good 75 yards away and I could hear her. She was properly positioned where the guy could easily see her. Of course, it was his fault.

We were going to stay there for four days or so and left in two. Just figured we didn't want to watch Incident Three the next day.

Hey, Stuff happens... What's done is done...

I've had my fare share of screw ups.... This last summer I was mowing a field I've mowed hundreds of times. Just that day though I forgot the rood of the tractor doesnt fit under a telephone pole guide wire. The wire sliced into the roof about 2 feet before I got it stopped... Luckily it's fiberglass and a relatively easy repair!!

Have lost 2 anchors over the years from unhooking the rear tie-off rope from the jet ski but not the front anchor rope. Actually, once was the wife, once was the future daughter in law, but... Believe me, the performance really takes a dive dragging an anchor from the bow!

Once pulled in and set up camp, boondocking. Opened awning. But then decided to move about 10', slowly, with the awning still out. Got 9' and the end of the awning hit my brother's MH. It punched a hole in the side of his MH, and broke all 4 awning mounts (top and bottom) and the whole thing collapsed onto the ground.

Okay. If we're admitting our mistakes. 25 years ago I drove our truck into the carport as I did every day. Except this time it had the camper on it.
Not much damage, old camper and old house, but stuff happens.
My husband does bring it up from time to time :)

River Edge RV park in Fairbanks AK. There was a caravan of Dutch Star Diesel Pushers. Number stickers on them, all that, must have been a couple dozen and they had an exclusive section of the campground. Day they left, the water service was out. One of the DSDP's pulled out with the water hose attached. And "pulled out" meant just that. They tore several yards of PVC water pipe out of the ground.

Boat with two fisherman returned to the launching ramp. They complained about how poorly the boat ran, sluggish. Then "Oh, what's this Rope in the Water?" They'd never weighed anchor and dragged it all the way back.

+1, this is the one that I did. All I broke was the door covering the electrical compartment. I was lucky.
