- I just put a 5100 steering stabilizer on the front of my 1 ton... It is very nice...Took away the bump steer 100%
- HarvardExplorerYou should investigate the possibility of increasing the front end caster to the top end of the specified range. Or at least verify what the specified range is and where it is set before investing into possible unnecessary modifications. JMO.
- DSDP_DonExplorer"10forty2"....I think you'll find that a steering stabilizer/shock/damper will not give you a significant improvement. As a matter of fact, on your coach, it'll probably just make it harder to steer and more tiresome.
You're better off spending the money on shocks, alignment and tightening steering components. Of all the suspension components you can add, the steering stabilizer is the least useful. Many will disagree, but human nature dictates that very few will admit that they bought a product that doesn't work.
I installed the Safe-T-Plus on my previous coach (05 Diploma) and really disliked the added stiffness to the steering, which made the drive more tiresome. I sold the unit and chalked up the loss to stuff that didn't work. - 10forty2Explorer

Wow...that's the first honest opinion I've read. I assumed what you said would be true, but not having ever driven a coach with one installed I had to go on the posts of others who apparently had really bad handling coaches. Thanks for posting this!! It'll definitely save me some duckies... LOL! - DaveinetExplorerAny kind of steering damper just masks the problems. A damper type device should be the very last choice in resolving handling issues. Start with proper air pressure, front end alignment, and good shocks. Next on the list and the most probable solution for nearly all gas coaches is a trac bar, front and rear, assuming you have a solid axle in the front. Normally trac bars solve most handling issues, because it actually corrects a design weakness of solid axles. Basically, your axle can move side to side, relative to the frame. This results in a delayed response to steering input. The delay means one is prone to over correct, and induce sway and loss of control.
- CG_DawsonExplorerI installed mine for safety during a blowout.
- conmotoExplorerDSDP Don did that include a Blue Ox True Center that you were unhappy about? I thought I recalled you preferring that unit and not the Safe-T-Plus. I am considering the True Center.
- DSDP_DonExplorer"conmoto".....I installed the Safe-T-Plus and hated it. As I said, I removed the unit and sold it for half of what I paid. Since I'm willing to try things and hopefully give an honest review, I bought the TruCenter and loved it!!!!
The TruCenter didn't increase the force required to steer the coach and worked wonderfully in the wind and on crowned roads. I didn't mention it here because it was an $1100.00 purchase. I doubt the OP would be interested in spending that much money.
I also installed 8 Koni FSD's on my Diplomat and bought the $2300.00 front and rear sway bars offered by Source Engineering. The Koni's were one of my biggest improvements. The sway bars improved the handling and the ride, but not $2300.00 worth. It should be noted that many Monaco owners installed the sway bars and loved them, but they all had longer coaches. I think they were a little too large for my 36 footer.
I bought the Source Engineering engine fan and got a much quieter coach and quicker acceleration. I also bought the DIGIcr computer chip for my ISL and turned it into a rocket.
Some may think I'm nuts, but I already swapped out the shocks on my 2014 Dutch Star for Koni's. My DP is my hot rod. Rather than spend money on a Chevelle or Mustang, I spend it on my motor home. If something works well, I write about it. If something doesn't work well, I write about it.
Now if I could just get my new ISL to run like my old ISL and quit throwing codes! - DaveinetExplorerDon, you are talking about a DP which already has track bars due to air suspension. The OP has a gasser which has leaf springs, so a completely different chassis design, so one could not really compare the results with any expectation of similar results.
- conmotoExplorerHey Dave I kind of took Don there and I apologize.
