Black tank rinser stopped up

The front black tank rinser is completely stopped up.

I tried putting CLR in the hose and letting it soak overnight but that did not work.

I cannot find the location of the rinser to take it out and clean it.

Any other ideas?
  • Our check valve for the black tank rinser is behind the mirror on the wall between our dinette and the shower. That's where we can get at the hot/cold knobs in the shower, too.

Ours got stopped up and we replaced it but that didn't solve the problem.
The problem was that the sprayer inside the black tank was also stopped up.

We could see little bits of grit/sand in the check valve when we took it out. (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE WATER TURNED OFF going to the rig...and the pump turned off when you work on this stuff.)

So lesson learned... put a sediment filter on your hoses no matter if they are going into your fresh water tank or onto the black tank sprayer.
  • Mine was on the direct opposite side of of where the tanks drain. I had a similar problem and like suggested above, it was the check valve. Mine was under the bathroom sink.
  • It's most likely the sprayer inside the tank that's stopped up.

Try draining the tank then fill it with fresh water, let it set overnight and then drive around before emptying it.
  • Jerry.....On the Monaco coaches, they installed a sprayer on the passenger side of the coach at the top of the black tank. The sprayer has several small holes in it so that it has a shower affect. When your black tank gets above 3/4, the waste sloshes up into the sprayer and dries hard.

Like I said, the sprayer is on top of the tank and has a hose line running to it that is hose clamped on. You can remove the hose, unscrew the sprayer and clean out the sprayer holes. The problem is, it will do it again. I just left the sprayer in place, removed the hose and used an 1/8" drill bit and drilled down into the sprayer several times. This enlarges the holes and will prevent clogging. It will no longer have a shower affect, but all you really want is a flood of water at the opposite end of the drain.

GEO Method , try this - using the water softener (Calgon)to "soften" the gunk up usually everything works better after it has been sitting for a day or two.

    Just my 2 cents.
