Ford F650 and F750 are available with the V10. They have a GCWR of 37,000 pounds.

WOW. I would rent an SUV to get home and have the V-10 repaired where located. That $5,000 would go nicely toward a crate V-10 replacement.

Not a Warranty but a SERVICE CONTRACT.Never ask what a service covers but ask what it does not cover.

Guess it depends if it's your RV or not.

Here is my experience with extended warranty companies.ost a transaxle and the van was at the dealer, the inspector wanted to put a used transaxle in. I opted to take a payment and covered the rest of a new transaxle myself. My second instance was a "gold" plan, when my Chevy radiator blew the divider between the trans cooler and the coolant part, same thing, the adjuster wanted to use used parts. This is the warranty companies out. I will NEVER buy another extended warranty.

People keep calling this problem a WARRANTY problem. They don't have a warranty. They have an EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT. Lets remember a few things. This type problem is spelled out in the Contract. People just gloss over the fine print. My then 81 year old father needed quad Bypass surgery. It took 5 weeks to get all the tests done and Medicare to approve of the operation. We were a nervous wreck waiting for all the Dots and T's and tests to be done. I think My father's and other people's waits for VERY CRITICAL medical care is way up higher than someone having to wait 2 to 4 weeks for their RV to be fixed. It is all in the perspective. Doug

Agreed. This is a wicked case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

They won, and without much of a fight.

2 weeks for another inspector is totally unacceptable, it's time to start jumping on someone's desk.

You're not talking a few hundred $$$, you're talking thousands.

And a 40ft motorhome with slideouts on a gas chassis is just wrong in my book...

What?? you should just leave the RV there at the repair place and drive your car home, at least give the warranty time you might be thousands ahead, what do you have to lose at this point, a $5000 tow and repair bill for motor will cost you over $10,000 by the time you are done..

Well, this could be a case of "hard nosed" negotiation might actually win the day.

From the USA Travel Care web site

TRIP INTERRUPTION/TRAVEL EXPENSE: When your vehicle is disabled due to a covered breakdown more than 100 miles from your residence, we will reimburse you for up to 3 days for lodging and restaurant meal expenses to a maximum of $125 per day subject to the following conditions: (1) The breakdown causes a delay in route to your destination. (2) The date of the breakdown will be considered the first day of the 3 day maximum period. The expense must be incurred between the time of the breakdown and the time the repairs are complete, or by the end of the third calendar day subsequent to the breakdown date if the repairs are not completed, whichever occurs first. Receipts are required for reimbursement.

Seeing as it is going to take THEIR inspector 3 days to get there but the 2-3 days to repair it, I would request 15 days at $125/day - $1875. Likely enough money to rent a car and drive home.
