My Brake Buddy has died and I am looking for a good replacement. Any advice on a good system would be appreciated. I have a 2009 Allegro Bus and am towing a 2011 Chevy Silverado.
X5 on ReadyBrake. We pulled to Alaska and back last summer with one and once I got the tension cable adjusted it worked great on some very rough and steep roads! Cheap price, easy set-up, easy hook-up, and lasts a long time. What's not to like!
An SMI Airforce 1 would be the way I would go. You have air brakes on the bus and the AF-1 ties directly into that. Nothing to remove each time, just plug in your electrical and an airline.
X6 on the ReadyBrake, for the reasons already mentioned.
You just can't beat it, IMO - costs a small fraction of what all the other systems cost, no electronics to fail, overbrake and damage your toad like electronic systems are known to do. Nothing to have to install and take out every time you tow. Just simple, no-nonsense cable-operated braking that just works, period. I won't own any other braking system.
