P30's are notorious for Rubber brake line problems. The inside deteriorates and the pressure of applying the brakes allows the brakes to be applied but the return is inhibited by the inside delamination of the brake line.
SO if you replace the caliper replace the brake line it is only about $20.00 more
I learned from experience
I did not realize that the rear lines were a problem I thought only the front rubber lines were the problem because the rubber was restrained by the steel clip that attaches to the frame. I did have this problem with the front line which I replaced both sides. I did not see this same type of clip on the rear lines.
They deteriorate inside. Got stuck in Nashville for a day last fall. Had same problem same side while in Ohio. The shop put on a new LR caliper. I made it to Tennessee before the problem came back. In Nashville the Chevy truck dealer replaced the hose and no problem since. When I got to Arizona had the other side done
I ordered the line yesterday from Napa will pick it up today and install it. If that doesn't work they have a new caliper in stock for $42. It is a lot easier to replace the line that installing the caliper.
Yes and it is a no lose situation. If the line works you do not need a caliper. If the caliper needs to be replaced after changing the line, oh well the line should have been chaged with the caliper anyway.
Either way post the outcome
