Buying a used Fleetwood Flair 22' .....NADA ...low?

Thanks for the pictures. At first, I thought "Wow. That's some snowfall for TN" ;)

When we had the water pump replaced, the mechanic had to lay on the engine and take everything off from that position. After he was finished, the new one leaked! So I had to wait an extra day to get it back.

We really liked our Flair. It was no where near the shape your is in, but we learned alot about RVing in a Class A.

Another "experience" we had was in KS last summer heading to Memphis. It was 102F..record heat. Our air conditioners were not up to the task of cooling us off. We were dyin'! So I get this brainstorm of stopping and purchasing one of those standup portable units. I found one at a hardware store and went to pay for it and..VISA card is missing! Out to IRV I run in a panic, open the door..took a leap in..tripped on the step and fell backwards back out of the rig and onto the parking lot pavement. This in itself would have been no big deal, but on the way down, I grabbed the door and tore it right off of the MH. I was livid and almost picked it up and smashed it on the pavement, but as I was picking it up, something told me that would'nt be a good idea since it was the only door we had! So, 3 sweaty and swearing hours later, plus some sheet metal and screws, the door was back on(and working better than it ever did), our new AC unit hooked up (the Visa card was in my coffee cup holder) and we were happily motoring our way to KC,MO. Ahh..it's all part of the adventure,eh?

It's overpriced. You should always buy at or below low book. Or keep looking. Since some view the 2500.00 spread as peanuts send me a bag of those. Why give someone a 2500.00 gift? Can't you use that money?

draboo, I wa already thinking of getting a spare carrier bearing and taking it with me on trips. When those go they don't seem to give a lot of warning.A water pump w/belts might not be a bad idea either.

Back home in TN....flawless trip both ways(never even had the usual headwinds and very little cross winds). I did have one casualty, the dealership winterized it for me before I picked it up. I never checked the separate water filter under the sink that has it's own spigot....yep, the filter froze solid and broke off at the threads. It's a small Culligan, so it is really no biggie to replace. Low was -17F....brrrrrr

The old big Tv was rattling around in it's overhead compartment on the crappy canadian roads, it was not even bolted down so I took it out and pitched it along with the VCR. A flat screen & DVD player will go in now.

Here are the down and dirty pic's after arrival in Manitoba. Temps the whole trip up were right at freezing and it drizzled for 1300 miles. I washed it when I arrived and will do a thorough washing here today...it's 55 degrees.

We just traded in a 92 Flair. Yours looks the same,but 10 times better condition.

I replaced the floor from the metal framing up. Replaced some of the water lines. Re hooked up the vent for the black tank. It had become disconnected.

I rebuilt the carb and the starter on the jenny. I tried one of those 40 buck Chinese starters and it worked for maybe 3 starts and seized up. Rebuilt the original and never had a problem.

The fan in the AC unit on the roof disintegrated and had to have that replaced. Front wheel bearings went bad last summer along with the center carrier bearing. We also had the master cylinder replaced and a brake job done.

And to top it off, last summer in Myrtle Beach, we had the water pump replaced. We were towing a Goldwing with a sidecar the first summer, and last summer we towed Sportster.

The trip home from MI to OR last summer was the best trouble free journey we ever took. This was our first ever RV.Never owned anything before but a small pop up that was towed behind our Can Am Spyder. We learned so much from our 92 Flair, which we dubbed.."IRV, THE FLOATING BRICK".

It looks like you have a good unit and I wish you well.

This might also be a simple fix. Weight the front end and adjust the tire pressure (per maker) to the weight. Also Class A's seem never to get there front shocks changed. They are always left for the next guy to do. ;)

Take a look under the doghouse for sound proofing material. Doubt if there is any, if that is the case you can buy some from JC Whitney. That should be a good value and a good return on investment for what you're use too with the Class C.

Oops right, I did forget to update that. Since I fixed the airbag leak, put in proper tire pressure, and put in new bushings, it goes down the road like it is on a rail. I can one hand steer it even when overtaking or being overtaken by 18 wheelers.

As far as the overall ride, we like it. Up front in the cockpit, I would say my Class C was smoother and quieter, but it is tolarble. In the back bedroom, my wife says the ride is the perfect, no bouncing or yaw at all. I am getting used to driving the fishbowl and I really like the visibility and the height...no way would I go back to a C.
