Buying an A Class RV

Hi,

we are Stefan and Anja from Germany. We are planning a long trip for a few years in the USA. Start is in Mai 2018 .

I hope my english is not too bad. :) We come with 2 Persons and 2 Dogs, Siberian Huskys.

We have a lot of questions about buying, towing and and....We hope that you will help us to realize the dream.

We are looking for an A Class RV with towing an Jeep Wrangler between 30 and 34 feet long. 2 Bicycle in the back of the Jeep or in a Little Garage in the RV like Thor Serrano

Price between 60.000 an 90.000 $

This Rvs i have found at RV Trader:

Thor Serrano 31 Z Diesel 2011

Fleetwood Bounder 34 M or 33 C 2013-2015

Winnebago Sightseer 30 A 2014

Itasca Sunova 30 A 2014

Allegro Breeze 2011 Diesel expensive....

Allegro open Road 31 SA 2013

Or other idea ??

We love it, when the Couch is over Corner. Can you tell me something good or bad about these RVs ?

Thanks for the help !!!!

Greeting Stefan
  • I have just looked at the app. I will install the app.

what consumption do I have to expect for diesel and gas?
  • Fuel prices will vary state to state. Right now in my home town in Ct.
regular gas is $2.44 a gallon and diesel is $2.69 a gallon
Can you get the gas buddy app?

Thanks for the informations. The Thor will probably fall out....

What ist the difference between in therms of cost Gas and Diesel ? I think we drive about 15000 miles in a jear.

In Germany our RV has al lot of Solarpanels on the Roof an big batteries, so we can stand without electricity. Useful or not ?

Is it a difference between 31 feet and 34 feet in the stateparks etc. ?

    thanks for your help.

    Stefan

just stay at parks that have electricity hookups and don't add a bunch of $$$expensive solar .
I wouldn't worry about the extra 3 ft myself if the one you want is 34. those numbers aren't real anyway.

    Greeting Stefan

other than the THOR I would take one of the others.
I would not buy anything with a rubber (EPDM) roof.

  • I would add Newmar to your list and be very wary of Thor products. Make sure you get a complete set of maintenance records for the coach. Get the coach independently inspected. See if you can meet the previous owners to see what type of people that are and if they took good care of it. Look at the date of the tires and see if they will need to be replaced (need to replace the tires at 7 years)
  • Stefan, your English is quite adequate. You are easily understood. You have good selections picked out, but I would stay away from anything Thor or Forest River. The other coaches you have are much more reliable.

  • I sent you a private message with an email of our friends from Australia that did exactly what you are planning. Rudi speaks German so I am sure that he can help you.Look at the top of this page to access your private messages.
