Buying new RV.....what discount should I expect?

Hi all,

We are getting ready to purchase a new RV (Winnebago Tour 42QD)......it's been 10 years since we went through this process, so asking for the current info from you all!

When we bought our last RV (2004 40AD), we received roughly 28% off MSRP. I have read that 27% to 30% off MSRP is the norm. Is that correct??

The first offer came back at about 17% and I wasn't to happy with that.........sooo, wondering what you all have found with recent purchases!

Thanks in advance for your help!! :@

  • I agree... even tho you dislike to barter... that's the name of the game. As mentioned, counter with 40% to 35%. Another way to deal with two or more dealers...even if it's not the same coach as long as it is comparable and in the same basic price range.

Last year we dealt with both Tiffin and Newmar for our current coach and with Newmar we dealt for the Ventana 4330 which is much like our Phaeton 42LH. We really wanted the Phaeton, but they were slow to discount and we would go back to the Newmar dealer and do the same and use the price of the Phaeton to get Newmar to lower their price on the Ventana. Then back to Tiffin and repeat the process. We wound up with just over 30% discount....which is, of course, just about exactly what the depreciation was as soon as we drove it off the lot!!

This procedure took us over three months to get the Phaeton down to what we wanted. Of course, with the dealer not selling the Phaeton out from under us helped quite a bit.

You just gotta be able to walk out the door unless you get what you want.

  • come in realy low like 35% off even more ,add all the fee,s in and the extras you want. bottom line out the door ,wheel and deal TILL YOUR HAPPY. make four or five trips to bartter, after all all the time your geting the price down, is money in your pocket. when I was a young lad , my dad dealt on a car dickered around for a couple hours, got what he wanted, still can here him say ,ONLY TIME IN MY LIFE I MADE $100. an hour.

Hi, Last year I got about 20% off the MSRP for my Winnebago Sightseer. Now I think I could have done better maybe another 5 to 10%. But, I am happy with my rig.

Thanks.......They didn't even come close to that on their first offer!.....I hate playing this game, but I guess you have to dance the dance to get what you want! certainly don't want to pay a premium for it!
