- tohareExplorerWe are at the refuge in wanchese. This is on Roanoke island,
About 3miles from the bridge that takes you to Nags Head. We think this is a good location as it is about an hours drive north to the Virginia boarder, thru the towns of Corolla home of the wild horses, to Duck with a good boardwalk and shopping, to the Wright Brothers museum and memorial in Kitty Hawk and Jockey Ridge State Park. South you go to Cape Hatteras National Park, lots of little beach towns and to Hatteras Light House.
The campground is clean all the utilities work and the sites are OK size.
Enjoy - jplante4Explorer IIDiscussed not long ago in this thread.
- PastorCharlieExplorerThe OBX is a peninsula separating the sound from the ocean.
- Passin_ThruExplorerFunny thing, is there is no such place in and McNally called Outer Banks. Find it and I'll give you 20. The Outer Banks are well offshore according to my Nautical Charts so be careful driving there.
- nascar11fanExplorerWe normally stay at Frisco Woods in Frisco. Also, Cape Woods in Buxton is small but nice..
- bullydogs1ExplorerCamp Hatteras and KOA for Hatteras island..If you are looking closer to hatteras itself..then Ocean Sands (right across from Ocracoke Ferry)..now for the middle of the Outer Banks....Nags Head, Manteo

The Refuge at Manteo...OBX Campground (Colington),Kitty hawk RV Park, small but literally right next to the beach..It all depends on what you want...and where you want to be, Camp Hatteras is about a 22 mile drive south of Nags Head on Route 12...
