Camping at 10,000ft.

At 5000 ft., I can stay for 2 days and start feeling bad. Coastal travel and camping is for me. Lucky we are living near the western coast.

When I get my wok started with some onions, garlic and peppers all of a sudden I get visitors. Bacon will even bring a vegetarian over, I know because one lives next door.

Some people take Diamox (prescription) pills for altitude sickness.

Gorgeous, the road work is coming along fine, only 10 minute delays. Camping filled up fast for a Thursday. Lake is beautiful,crystal

clear. Windy at times, saw a brown bear as we were leaving,coyotes common and come real close, keep small dogs close.

Kids did well in stream, I saw nothing being pulled from the lake. Mike the campground host is very helpful.

Great news. Sounds like you had great time! To our thinking Rock Creek Lake and surrounding area is heaven on earth. As to propane issues,etc....we have never had issues with any of our 5 ers. My DH does change the carburetor jet for generator to high altitude. We have usually stayed in East Fork.

If you have any breathing or heart trouble problems I would opt for lower altitude camping. Before I knew I was due for coronary bypass surgery, I would get chest pains with trouble breathing at high altitudes that felt like heartburn.

Our gensets have an altitude adjustment on their carbs but not so our refrigerators. You gotta keep that flame clean and shooting pretty straight up the tube for maximum efficiency. Any inefficiency is compensated for in part by the fact that it is cooler at altitude and so the refrigerator doesn't struggle as much to keep cool as when the ambient temperature is high.

As a flat lander in an alien environment we always take it a little slower, drink a lot of liquids (particularly plain old water) and make sure our sodium and potassium intake is above normal. When I was a kid working in the hot Oklahoma sun in the oil fields while going to school we always took salt tablets to retain fluids. So did athletes. Now, everyone is "salt sensitive" and you don't hear of them much, but they sure kept up your hydration.

I did level the coach, it has hydraulics. I agree with the sensitivity of the flame at higher altitudes, coach sits in the driveway ready to roll, not level and fridge works fine. Now the issue is with the propane outdoor stove.

The regulator doesn't seem to work properly,there is an ample supply of gas, when I disconnected the line from the coaches tank there was plenty left in the line. I need to bleed the line or burn off the fuel in the line

before disconnecting. Appreciate all the feedback and will keep it in mind for our next adventure, wife says 8000 feet and that's it.
