Camping with no electricity

Nothing special...generators are designed to run for many hours or even days at a time. Test it before the trip to make sure it works.

I'd be mindful of where the exhaust is going, how loud your generator is, and running out of gas.

Verify the operation before you go. Also check the oil level. Let it rip.

It should not be an issue as far as the equipment is concerned. If you have never overnighted with a genny you may find it annoying (as will any neighbors) hopefully you will only need it until 9 or 10 PM and can shut it down until 8 or so the next morning.
I will suggest you check the oil during those down periods every other day or so.

Most Important: Make sure your carbon monoxide alarm is working properly.

All vents and windows CLOSED if you are running it while you sleep.

If you can find the owners manual, it will tell you how much fuel the genny will use per hour. Figure out how much fuel you can potentially use over several days, it might surprise you.

Depending on the size genny in your Class C, you can expect to use between about .3 to .8 gallons of fuel per hour while using the AC.

Over 3 days at 12 hours per day that's between

3 X 12 = 36 Hours genny time or between 10.8 to 28.8 gallons of gas.

Don't get caught short on fuel. Not fun!

Thanks for all the helpful replies. We will be parked out on a horse ranch so we won't be bothering anyone. And Kerrlakerroo, you probably don't live in Texas - we will have to run it overnight, for sure. With 3 breathing sleeping bodies, a 70 overnight temperature with high humidity - we will sweat to death in the RV without the AC overnight. I can turn it off some in the morning when we are out and about. It only takes a couple of minutes to cool down, it is only a 24 ft Motorhome.

I will be sure to fill up with gas before we park and we can go get more gas if we need to. I just checked the carbon monoxide alarm and it is working. We will keep all vents and windows closed while we are asleep.

I just changed the oil and used it a couple of hours the other day while loading up so it is running well. I will check the oil periodically and I have extra oil if we need it.

Unless anyone can think of anything else I should do, I think we are good to go.

I would be careful when refilling the fuel tank. I prefer to shut down for a while before I fuel.

Put it on a long cord away from the RV.

On Sunday, change the oil before you break camp.

It is always good to be prepared but...........
I live in Florida and have "camped" all over the southeast in the summer time.

We are not in the "dog days of summer" yet, even in Texas, and the weather is still quite variable. You might be pleasantly surprised that you don't need the A/C as much as you think.

Of course, parking under a tree would help too. :B

I suspect that his gen is built-in and that his gas tank holds near to 50 gallons.....and that the gen won't need an oil change for several more weekends. ;)
