Have a real good friend that is at level financially. He and his wife are in their mid-60s. They have collectively donated thousands of hours, and millions of dollars, to countless non-profits so far. In my exposure to him and his lifestyle, I have seen one thing clearly. Given his extreme wealth, he is far from typical in his generosity and moral compass. I have spent time with many of his business associates, and others who are of similar means. To put it charitably, he surrounds himself with good family and friends who are down to earth, genuine and decent. The conspicuously wealthy crowd is noticeably absent.
The fact that Sam Walton's daughter just spend a billion on a museum as a monument to herself, while we the taxpayers spend over $5K per employee of her company to provide them with health care on the taxpayer's dime, say more about extreme wealth that any picture of a coach can.
