Carfax for Motorhomes

I'm looking at buying a used motorhome and asked the dealer for the Carfax. He did supply it but I noticed that over a 10 year period there was no maintenance or repairs recorded. The only thing was each year when it was re-registered and recording that there were 3 owners. The salesman said that most of the motorhomes that they carfax come back that way. Anyone have any insight? I know Carfax has it's limitations but to not have any record of service over 10 years seems a little odd. AS always though I could be wrong
  • CarFax reports ONLY the information that is reported to them. If you run in to a tree, and repair it yourself, the CarFax will not know about it. The same goes for owner maintenance, although most dealer maintenance is not reported either unless it was something major. If you have no state inspections, then yearly mileage is unknown. If it had flood damage but no insurance claim, CarFax does not know about it. I think the salesman was being straight with you and even with automobiles, CarFax is limited on it's usefulness.

if one does their own service that would not show up in Carcax, would it?
