- sremsingExplorerStill use mine, and have used it for many years.
- Dennis_M_MExplorerOurs is always on because it is a weather alert monitor as we'll as CB. Keep the squelch up to where I only hear transmissions from the immediate area unless looking for traffic info.
Occasionally I get a call from a trucker asking about the smart on the back of the truck or the duals on the fiver - they tend to notice that. - GMandJMExplorerHave one. It's still in the box.
- jorbill2orExplorer III have one and rarely use it . I belong to a Good Sam local Chapter and when we travel together to a outing or on our once a year extended trip we use it to keep in touch and together for those that want to.
If you go on organized caravan group trips of various sorts they sometimes recommend you have one. Other than that it has little value. well .... mine does have a weather radio built in and will give a weather warning even if off, thats a great value in itself, but there are stand alone radios that do the same - RoyBExplorer III have one under my truck seat set for Ch19 and the squelch turned all the way up. This makes it a close proximity radio and all I want to do is monitor the truckers near me... They have all the road hazard info handy...
I have never heard another RV'er since 2008 when I installed mine...
When the wife have a need to keep in contact like at malls etc we wither use the CELL PHONES or a couple of the FRS RADIOS I have... Some places like I have heard at Gatlingburg have FRS RADIO REPEATERS going...
The FRS radios don't have much range on their own. definitely not the 20 mile range that alof of the sellers claim they do... In populated areas like Gatlinburg the FRS radios are really crowded...

Do most folks use CB Radios will on the Road??
only the smart ones
bumpy - the_bear_IIExplorerI keep one just in case of an emergency where a cellphone might not work.
Although it may be tough to get someone to answer me since not many people use them.
When we caravan with others we use the cellphone to keep in touch.
We do have a couple of FRS Walkie Talkies we use once in awhile. - jplante4Explorer IIThere was a push to get RVers on channel 13. iRV2 has CH13 bumper sticker for sale. Don't know if anyone is one. I have one in the Sahara and have never turned it on.
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerWe have a CB in the coach and I don't hear many using it. It does come in handy if the freeway traffic comes to screeching halt. It helps to find out from the truckers which lane is best to be in since we are 65 ft. long and need a little room to merge.
MM. - boogie_4wheelExplorerI have a CB on my motorcycle. The only time I hear chatter is when there is a wreck in the immediate area, when multiple rigs from the same company are running together, or when I'm on I-40.
I can go over a thousand miles and never hear anything on 19.
A few weeks ago I was returning from Canada and called out to a log hauler as things were starting to get out of hand on a 2-lane (slow vehicle, loaded semi wanting to pass, me wanting to pass everybody, busy road), he answered... We jawed with each other for a couple miles until I started to get out of range.
