CHF rear?

OK I got the CHF done to the front when it was in for service. It did make a difference in the way it steered and handled. Some have recommended getting the rear done as well.....thoughts?

Do a search for Ford 53 Cheap Handling Fix. Lots of info and pics out there. It's a simple DIY project that helps, sometimes a great deal.

Don't own a Ford, so I guess that leaves me out of this conversation.

Specifically, yes, generally, no. While the handling problems many encounter currently is with the Ford chassis, since it is about the only one available in newer units, the basics of suspension upgrades is universal. Adding track bars on units with leaf spring suspensions is not widely considered useful in most cases, but seems to work on these for some reason. Properly sized sway bars front and rear with good bushings help control body roll while track bars aid more with the tail wagging effect.

  • Rear CHF is a good one, as well. Be sure to check the bushings on the SB. If they are rubber (original, older, Ford) replace with new poly bushings.
Rear track bar was the next biggest helper for me.
