- smlrangerExplorerSorry but I disagree with anyone who says you can eliminate the smell. Yes, you can reduce it but never totally eliminate it. It gets into the AC/heating ducts and coils, and every crack and crevice.
We recently traded coaches and in our search, our dealer wanted us to look at an otherwise nice 2006 Mountain Air 42' DP. The original owner told me his wife smoked in the coach.
I told the dealer he was wasting his and my time. Dealer had Serv Pro detail the coach, clean the ducts, clean everything. Then they ran the ozone gizmo for two days before we arrived to look at the coach.
It still smelled like a smoker's coach. Not bad but we could tell. After it sits closed up for a few days in the summer, the smell will rear it's ugly head, IMO. We left it and ended up with a nice, clean non-smoker's coach. - JarlaxleExplorer IIDone that...the answer is ZERO! I bought a car from a chain smoker...cheap, for obvious reasons. There was no, zero, ABSOLUTELY NOT A TRACE OF odor in it!
- BumpyroadExplorerand after you think you have it cleaned out and done the ozone thingy, wait for a nice hot/humid day after it has been shut up for a while, see how much stink returns.
bumpy - rjf7gExplorerWash all windows and window frames twice. Open the windows. Wash the walls and every surface twice. Take anything fabric out and run it through the washer and dryer twice.
Close the windows and re-enter in a couple of hours to check the smell.
Fabreze has a reasonably effective spray for cigarette smells. Spray this around as needed.
Then, rent an ozone machine if the smell is still there.
If that doesn't work, leave a raw pork roast in the unit for a couple days. - doxiemom11Explorer IIYou will have to clean anything that you can and for wood, clean it with Johnson's Oil Soap. Use the ozone machine (when you are not in it) and keep doors and windows open when you can. Any fabrics will hold the odor. After cleaning a few times, you should be able to remove it. Be thorough! If painting - used a sealer like Bullseye or Zinser as your primer - then paint. - shaneperchExplorerIf anyone knows of a 1982ish vogue that has been owned by a chain smoker, let me know,. if it is cheap! for an affordable deal I can stand the smell. My olfactories are not stellar which is good for me.

I tried an ozone machine once and it removed the smell for 24 hours (which is why car dealers use it just before you pick it up). As someone said, remove everything porous and paint everything that isn't.
Then it wasn't run long enough.
