The ride and handling differences between my slightly and cheaply modified gasser and the DP I drove is minimal. Nor is the noise level objectionable. I can tow all I need to tow (a 5000 lb SUV). I can take as long a shower as I need (especially when in a campground). I can carry all the stuff I need for a 2 month trip to Alaska and back. If my jacks get stuck, I can deal with it. My basement air has always keep us comfortable including camping in 90+ degree temps. And I have thousands of $$$ left over for investments and other fun things. :)

The tone of so many of these gasser/diesel threads indicate a need to justify the importance of the person owning the DP. :R

By the way, I can also change a flat tire by myself along the Alaskan Highway, if necessary, because I have a spare and can handle my tire. Can you? Or do you sit for hours??

You're saying the there is little difference between the MH you describe and the one I describe. If you attach no value to the differences then you have no reason to pay for them. But that doesn't mean they aren't there.

The tone of many of these gasser/diesel threads is to justify how much smarter the person is who owns the gasser because they paid less for the same thing.

I think that really misses the mark. It is about what you value. I find some MH's insufficienctly different from a travel trailer to own at all. I pulled a TT for nearly 20 years, BTDT.

I have no desire to drive the Alkan highway. If I can't put a plug in my flat then I'll call in the service truck. I have no place to be at any time specific time. I'll start the genny and party on...

Selecting a vehicle for a specific mission and purpose, that's the way it should be, and probably is,......in most cases.

Not RV, but story that will stay in my family.
Years ago when my son was in college, I offered him diesel Mercedes.
He's answer was "Mercedes are for old people" and bought Mitsubishi 3000 (red sport car).
But when he come for Christmas and plan to have some fun with his friends he ask me if he can take my Mercedes for driving around.
I lend him diesel Mercedes on Saturday on condition that he will fill it up.
So Sunday morning we are going to Church and I noticed the tank is 1/2 full. I ask son if he did fill it up - he did, but before taking drive with friends. The car was making 600 miles on tank.
His Mitsubishi about 270.

I paid cash for my motorhome,....back in 2003, and I still use it. During all these years of use, the fuel cost has always been a factor. The number of miles that I use it simply depends on several things, one of which is fuel cost. All my life, I have never been able to afford everything that I want.

Speak for yourself.
For me cost of fuel is major factor in vehicle purchase.
For example 2 years ago diesel in CA was the most expensive fuel in CA, so I sold diesel sedan and bought gasoline wagon for my wife.
Now I can buy diesel for less than $1.90 while cheapest premium is $2.49.
Bottom line I can drive supercab dually truck for the same fuel cost what my wife wagon.
In the past I was trying to grab wagon for small drives without a load, now I don't care.
Transferring the sample to Class A, wouldn't you like to drive 40' coach for the same fuel cost what 27' does?

Goodness! If you're worried about the fuel cost on your MH, you need to pick another pursuit. I can drive my motorcycle for far less than my MH, but we're are talking Class A's not other vehicles. While fuel cost is factor in ownership it is far from the biggest reason to pick a MH. There are a few of the entry level MH that are designed specificly to capture the indescriminite buyer by being powered with diesel, as if fuel type were important.
