Couple ready to purchase first rv...Class B or C rv? We want to travel, camp, boondock or go to an RV park. We sea kayak and downhill ski... Plan to travel in winter too and be able to tolerate freezing conditions. Almost ready to purchase Class B but do concerned B not very tolerant of freezing temps.. Is class C better for freezing temps yet available in 20 ft or so lengths?

Some are. Some, just like most but not all B's, aren't. Depending on how much space you need, you might want to check out a Tiger CX or one of their pricier models.Jim, "Why do I wear loud socks? To keep my feet from falling asleep!"

What is your tolerance for living in a small space that feels cold, with non-operable plumbing?Either type of RV will survive winter conditions when winterized. Cold weather won't prevent travel, but may change the way you live in the RV. If you have power and fuel for the furnace, you can heat up the living space, but you may feel cold from heat loss through walls, windows especially, and in the B's and most small C's, through the floor. Larger RVs can get you into three-season and four-season designs with larger furnaces, heavier insulation, insulated windows, and heated basement spaces containing freeze-prone utilities, but I don't think you are going to find much like this at 20-feet unless you are ready to have it custom built.

That is informative, indeed. Looking at some of the LTV B+ prices for 24 ft rigs that others have discussed, there was something like a 35% cost hike w/r comparable units from winnie, and others.

But LTV is only a Triple E a subsidiary, and perhaps entering a specialty niche??

Disclaimer: I live in Texas, so "cold weather" means a night in the teens every so often, perhaps once every ten or so years, hitting the single digits.

If one is in the same area in a "C", why not skirt it? Obviously the generator and vehicle exhaust would have cut-outs, but the advantage of skirting is that there wouldn't be wind blowing underneath (which helps keep the tanks above freezing), and it can provide some additional storage if need be.

The Aspect 30c and GT 29 are priced comparably to each other. The Triple E will probably end up being about 10k more but the for seasons feature and IMHO better build quality make it worth the increase. It had a better floorplan too.

I think the Aspect 27k floorplan is much better though and it is about $15k less. If we could get it as a four season if pick it over the Triple E.

Second this. Our next RV, withing two years, will be the Triple E Regency GT 29. We had a chance to get in one and give a good once over. It is very, very well built and fully capable of dead of the winter camping in Canada. It is, and I don't say this lightly, of better build quality than our Winnebago Aspect 26A --which is pretty good and with which we are 100% satisfied with.

Hi,

Has anyone successfully managed covers for the outside of windows?

I love the fabric with the layer of silver mylar. I'm currently having 14 yards of it made up to cover the windows, vents, sky lights, access door, and to block off the cab. I'll be semi full timing this fall and want to be prepared for the worst that Saskatchewan can hurl at me (-40 does happen most years).

There is a layer of fabric, a layer of mylar, a layer of batting and then a cover fabric of your choice is added to the sandwich.

I'll be using industrial velcro for hanging as it has a far stronger adhesive on it.

Thanks Ron. My dearest Nancy gets credit for the sewing. I'm just the idea guy and engineering department. With the amount of time we had invested in them I'm not sure I could make any money on them anyway. They sure are nice to have in cold weather. In the Chinook I could keep the inside toasty warm with an electric heater on the low (900 watt) setting in sub freezing temps...the Navion takes more as it's bigger. They work so well one has to be careful not to store liquids on the opposite side of the cab curtain as things freeze...they work that well.

Having spent about 20 years living full time in smaller boats and trailers I would say go to a C. They make some nice livable ones in 22-23 foot. And like others said look to Canada for all weather rigs. Difference between a B and C is camping in the B or living in comfort in the C. Generator is a must. Having places to set in comfort is a must. Drivers and passengers seats with easy access and being to able to recline them is needed as they become your recliners. Real driving difference is not much between them.
