Class C question

Just got back from a trip to the beautiful North Georgia mountains. Stayed at a very nice campground called Riverbend near Hiawassee. The campground was full due to the fair and one thing I thought about was this: why are there so few Class C's out there? There were travel trailers, fifth wheels, even a bunch of Class A's, but only 4 Class C's (mine included) during the 5 nights we stayed. This was not the first time I have noticed the lack of Class C's, but the most obvious with the full campground. It seems even on the sales lots these days that Class C's are in the minority. Anyone have any explanation for this? I suppose Class A's are more easily obtained nowadays but I don't understand the lack of C's out there. Anyway I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

IMHO, the price of a "C" is a problem. Too many of them have become too expensive for the younger families who would be most likely to use them. DH and I went pricing a new motorhome and found there were far more quality used "A"s available than "C"s and a new C just cost too much compared to what we could get for a 'gently used' A! We got a 4 year old A with double slides, a king sized bed and only 8,000 miles on it for less than $50,000!!! Why buy a C - when we would only use the sleeping area above the cab when our grandkids joined us?

Excellent point. It does seem that you get "more for your money" with a Class A. I have never driven a Class A so I cannot compare the handling etc. but I don't think there is much difference in gas mileage for gasoline engines between the two. I like our Class C but would like to have more comfortable seating etc.

Just my thought. Because Class C's have many sleeping positions they probably are more appealing to younger folks with families and most do not full time in them, so perhaps there out there and your just not seeing them except on weekends. :)

Actually we do most of our trips during the week and very few on weekends due to the crowds. Most of the C's I have seen are old timers like myself and not families.
