When something has become an accepted standard, there is usually a pretty good reason or reasons for it. Yes technology changes can make something better than what had been considered "tried and true" but that still doesnt normally detract from the usefulness of what had been in prior use. And you may discover that instead of paying for a couple of weeks to a month at an RV park at $25 to $40 a night to use their electricity and wifi, you may prefer to live out in the boonies with old fashioned propane which may cost you $40 a month and wifi from a smartphone for your internet access.
