one final thought for internet. In 2009 and 2010 as part of the stimulus plan the fed gave away money to companies to provide internet connections to areas with no options. Most went to companies working in 4g lte programs in limited areas because they are cell tower based.
You could check to see what went to Texas for that purpose. In Va we have a company called BIT broadband, I know there is a company in Pa called "In the stix", and there are numerous others nationwide they offer 2-20 meg speeds in some cases with unlimited total usage. I dont know if there is a provider of this service in your area but it may be worth checking. I just looked at texas. Texas broadband covers central texas , 3 gig speed unlimited total data $70 a month. Just google wireless broadband in texas and you can get county by county breakdowns of who offers what.
You mentioned using straight talk, you can get unlimited plans (which slow to 2g at 22 gigs ) from others, t mobile etc for a reasonable cost, or use total wireless 5gigs from youur phone for 35 but they offer a better deal for data at 3gigs for $10, and it carries over.
