Has any one use a dish washing detergent and styrofoam peanuts to clean your black tank.???
Styrofoam peanuts!!!! :E
No offense Tom, but I think a little common sense would go a long way on asking this question.

I like that
bumpy - Mr_Mark1ExplorerYeah, tell your neighbors to please not use anything that does not break-down in water.
We have two homes on a septic system and they work quite well. (Not to be graphic) We have to tell guests to put only the 'three P's' in the tank and nothing else (pee, poop and paper).
We use Rid-Ex once a month to keep the enzymes in check.
Once, when one of the houses were going through a remodel, the painter cleaned his brushes in the utility sink in the laundry room with turpentine. It killed the enzyme's in the tank and the 3,000 gallon tank filled up and had to be pumped out. Eighteen years after that, never another problem if you treat'm right.
MM. - Tom_BarbExplorerOBTW we were never exposed to "baby wipes" our kids went thru that period of their lives long before baby wipes were invented. I guess we learned a lesson here.

Before leaving the camp site, I pour about 5 gallons of water down the toilet. The water gets "swooshed" around on the way to the dump station. The extra 5 gallons help flush the black tank.
I then our another 5 gallons down the toilet and drive home with the water "swooshing" around. It also helps break down any solids that may not have been flushed away.
I've never had a black tank issue and have learnt not to throw items like baby wipes into the tank.
My normal routine is to hook a water hose to my black tank rinse connection, allow it to fill the black tank to about half full prior to opening the black tank slide valve. After the black tank is empty I close the black tank slide valve, then open the grey water tank slide valve, when it is empty, I close its valve and open the black tank again, when it is empty again, I close the slide valve and allow the rinse water to add a few gallons fresh water then shut off the flushing water, close all valves and stow all the hoses. Then add chemical to the tank. - Tom_BarbExplorer

I think Tom/Barb is doing a little trolling. :)
Seems we have become the neighborhood person to ask RV questions, I'd never heard of doing it, thought you folks might have. - 10forty2ExplorerHere's a really good video explanation and demonstration of why it's futile to add anything like ice or other solid into the black tank in hopes of scrubbing it....

- BumpyroadExplorerI think the OP is confusing ice cubes with pellets?
