Cleaning the Front Windshield
I think that I have finally found a way to clean the front windshield on the Class A. After a day of driving in the SW, the front windshield looked like I was trying to make a pizza with all of the adhered bugs, and a few bird hits.
I use a bit of baby shampoo in water and a pole mounted squeegee with a textured sponge on the reverse side. I throughly wet the windshield with the sponge and scrub it (2-3 times), and then use the squeegee vertically to dry the windshield, wiping it with a micro-fiber cloth after each swipe. I then use a bit of Windex window cleaner spray, and wrap the squeegee with another dry micro-fiber cloth and scrub the windshield until clean and dry.
I've even had success in the sun with 85F temperatures, although shade and cooler temperatures work much better.
I used to use Meguires(SP) Gold in water but it seemed to coat and adhere the bugs to the windshield without removing them. Dryer sheets also seemed to gum up with it? The baby shampoo seems not to effect the wax on the painted surfaces, or on the 3M film.
