converter not working can't locate it

I just bought a 2002 Holiday Rambler Atlantis 24 ft.
The converter isn't charging the batteries.
I can't locate where it is in my RV.
Can any one help me?
Thanks,
Wayne
  • Found it! Tucked away under the fridge. It took me 45 minutes to get it out. Then spun the fan and it started working....who da thunk that would happen. It's been sitting on the floor for several hours and still working.

My breaker panel is above the top cabinet in the kitchen....not even close to this converter.

    Thanks for the replies.

I would check this panel out under the fridge... This is usually where the power Distribution Panel is for the trailers. Look for the converter/charger will be in the bottom compartment. With the year of your trailer it will most likely be a WFCO WF8955 model...

OOPS DISREGARD.... I just now read you have a different RV unit... 2002 Holiday Rambler Atlantis 24 ft... Sorry bout that...

  • Look for a small metal door. Mine is under the fridge cabinet. Has the main breakers and fuses on it.
  • Usually it's quite near the electrical panel, but not always. On my Coachmen, it's on the opposite side of the vehicle, under the pantry section next to the fridge.

Quite commonly the converter is part of the same chassis as the electrical panel, often in a compartment underneath the breakers and DC fuses.
  • In my Jayco, the converter and transfer switch is under a panel under the bed. As the other poster replied, it is very close to the breaker panel which in my case is mounted on the outside of the bed frame. Let us know what you find. Seems like the various manufacturers go to great lengths to "hide" some of this stuff, and the owners manuals are virtually useless for locating things like this.
  • In most, but not all, it is beside or behind the breaker panel.

But, there is something else to check first since you just bought this RV. Many, if not most, have a battery disconnect switch. If the battery disconnect switch is on, the battery is not connected to the converter, so it won't charge. I would first check to see if you have one of those.
