Counter tops in Winnebago Destination

Just looked at a 2008 Destination and the kitchen counter tops were delaminating like nothing I've ever seen Looked like a soft plastic sheet of material with huge air bubbles underneath. Most of the MH we have looked at have corian type material for countertops in kitchen and BR's Is there a simple fix for this? I wonder if it's a sign the Manufacturer is cutting quality on this model and will it show up in other areas of the MH . I know when one buys an older MH it's going to have issues but this screams of cheap construction and cutting corners
  • Don't know how cheap of a fix you will find. I have an '07 Winy vista, and the countertops were garbage. A thin backer of dense fiberboard, with a microscopically thin plastic foil covering. I pulled them all and made replacements with furniture grade particle board, and a high end laminate. Materials for everything, including kitchen, bath, dining table and nightstand, ran about $300 bucks. For a few hundred more, any decent cabinet shop could do the same thing for you. Since I was starting over, I also installed a corian double bowl kitchen sink, and a new stainless steel bath sink. It was nice to see the crappy factory sinks hit the garbage can, where they belonged.
  • This can happen due to not proper install, setting something very hot on the surface causing the glue to release. The other thing I have seen is someone setting hot ice on the top and it causes the same issue. I am sure there are other things. There is really no fix for it other than replace the counter top.
