Need more info on the year and motor, Carburetor or Fuel Injection, without more info I would speculate its a fuel problem. If FI motor the fuel pump is in the tank and you will have a connection on the fuel rail at the motor, here is where you can put a gauge to test, these test ports look like larger tire valves and work the same, You can also just remove the cap and release the pressure if there is any, crank, if no fuel comes out then bad fuel pump, if some fuel comes out then a gauge is needed to see what pressure its providing to see if it is in spec. Based on my GM knowledge, Port injection systems need around 50 psi to run right, TBI systems 20 psi.
